Horizon Events

Horizon Events brought live concerts and other large-scale experiences to Meta Horizon Worlds. I helped adapt the product for mobile, defining how an experience built for VR should work on a phone. I later worked on UX polish across several Horizon surfaces.

Mobile events

We started without a clear definition of what attending a Horizon event from a phone should be. I mapped the capabilities already available across Horizon and worked with design to determine what we could build. As the interaction prototypes developed, I translated them into technical requirements, identified gaps in the platform, found the teams responsible for the systems we depended on, and coordinated the work needed to deliver the experience.

I implemented much of the mobile experience, including touch controls, focusing on the event screen, and social interactions such as the emote stream. Rather than a design handoff, the work was a continuous loop between design and engineering. I would start from a direction or interaction prototype, make detailed UX and visual decisions in the implementation, then review and refine the result with the designer.

UX polish

I played a key role in a broader, cross-team effort to polish Horizon’s UX, working with design across VR, mobile, Horizon OS, and AR. The work focused on refining existing experiences, reducing inconsistencies between surfaces, and defining a more consistent standard for product quality.

Coldplay launch

The first major launch of the new Events experience was a live Coldplay concert, with tens of thousands of people attending the initial airing across VR and mobile.
